At the very first boutique he spotted what appeared to be a charming chapeau. After serious consideration and much preening before the mirror, Seymour concluded that despite it's garden theme, there was something decidedly unnatural about the hat - how could a flower garden background be any colour other than green or earth-toned?! No hat for Seymour.
In the next boutique he tried on reading glasses - a perfect fit, but overly flashy for a garden variety snail. No glasses for Seymour.
The helpful sales manager at the Clinique counter chose a lipstick for Seymour. The bright shade of red appealed to Seymour's wild side, however, he worried the poker night boys might fear he'd reversed the curl of his shell if he sported red lips at the next Texas Hold 'Em tournament. No lipstick for Seymour.
By this time Seymour was feeling mighty tired and his foot was killing him. He tried on comfortable-looking foot apparel, but the store clerk refused to sell him a single - pairs only. Seymour felt this was unethical as the store was clearly advertising single shoes at its front display. No shoe for Seymour.
Now completely exhausted by the fruitless outcome of his shopping efforts, Seymour found a place in the linen department to curl up for the night and recoup his strength for whatever tomorrow might bring.
